Faith Memorial Baptist Church was 62 years old at the time and had faithfully been a lighthouse for God’s Kingdom here on this piece of property. The leaders had been praying for years as the congregation was getting older, “What’s next Lord.” Their heart was to continue to be faithful in being a lighthouse for generations to come.

In early 2020 when the COVID pandemic was beginning, WestGate Church who was 26 years old at the time was forced to sell its building, where they had been located for 12 years, by the City of Jacksonville over a zoning dispute. Their leaders were praying the same, “What’s next Lord”, while looking for a location to meet. God led them to Faith Memorial to see if they could rent the church on Saturday evenings, until the building sold and they could get a new place of their own.

The people of Faith Memorial were awesome and welcomed WestGate with open arms. The people of WestGate sought to serve and minister to the people of Faith memorial. The churches began doing activities together and occasionally joining together in worship gatherings. Both churches with different styles and preferences laying them aside to worship our Lord together was a beautiful sight to see. After 20 months WestGate sold their building and were about to begin looking for a new home, when God intervened. The leadership of the two churches began to talk and pray about, “What’s next Lord.” It soon became clear that God had brought WestGate to Faith Memorial and by doing so was answering both our prayers in leading us to unite, becoming one new church called Living Faith Church Jacksonville.

Both Faith Memorial and WestGate had long and productive history of ministry separately, but we choose to forget what lies behind and look forward to all that lies ahead as Living Faith.
